a psalm of my own
"There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death." Prov. 14:12
"The way of a fool seems right to him,
but a wise man listens to advice." Prov. 12:15
"May my cry come before You, O Lord;
give me understanding according to
Your Word." Ps. 119:169
Sometimes my vision is clouded
-blurred by my passion
my hopes and desires.
-blurred by the options
opportunities and adventures.
-blurred by my fears
insecurities and misgivings.
-blurred by their wants
plans and goals.
Sometimes there are too many doubts
decisions and aspirations.
"Listen to my prayer, O God,
do not ignore my plea;
hear me and answer me.
My thoughts trouble me and I am
distraught." Ps. 55:1-2
"My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be
shaken." Ps. 62:1
My poor heart beats for so many things.
My poor ears hear so many voices.
My poor feat stand before so many paths.
My poor hands long to touch so many people.
"I lift up my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth." Ps. 121:1-2
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight." Prov. 3:5-6
Where do I start?
Where do I stop?
Do I choose easy?
Do I choose hard?
Follow the money?
Follow the ministry?
"Teach me to do Your will,
for You are my God;
may Your good Spirit
lead me on level ground." Ps. 143:10
If I could only recognize
and hear your voice,
I would follow.
Is this heart of mine
to be trusted?
May decisions be based on emotion?
How long, O Lord, must I wait
for Your direction?
"I waited patiently for the Lord;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet upon a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord." Ps. 40:1-3
"Cast your cares on the Lord
and He will sustain you;
He will never let the righteous fall." Ps. 55:22
